Ruble's Trinity
Spring, 2015

The week of April 27-May 1, advanced iconography students at St. Peter's Del Mar will write an icon of Rublev's Trinity.

There is much written about this icon, and rather than repeat it, I will simply share this meditation by Br. Curtis Almquist, SSJE, If the link above doesn't work, simply paste the following into your browser window:    http://ssje.org/ssje/2013/01/29/andrei-rublev-br-curtis-almquist/

Stay tuned for pictures from our class as the week rolls on!

I was amazed to find this icon of the Trinity from a Russian icon the end of the 15th century, as I've been meditating on it for years as it was included in a Henri Nouwen's, "Behold the Beauty of the Lord; Praying with Icons" ('85, Ave Maria Press). So refreshing to find a contemporary version of this icon while I was searching for information re. the icon efforts that included the "Christ Pantocrator" included in the 8-10, '14 Episcopal "Forward Day by Day'.

I'd like to know more of your efforts to "tell the story" through contemporary icons. Thank you,

Charlie Briggs

Hi Charles! Thank you for writing. I have enjoyed writing icons such as those on the Forward Day by Day since 1999.

What aspects are you most interested in?

I just came across this, and would love to hear more about your ongoing work writing icons! How did the class go that you posted about here, and where is the work posted?
